Cal. 45 Colt. S# 187659B. Bbl. 20". Model 1873 lever action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1885. Top left side of the contemporary replacement bbl. is marked "45 COLT", followed by "GG". Sides of the receiver and sideplates exhibit a reapplied polished blue finish, with remaining metal components exhibiting a matte blue finish. Bbl. exhibits a polished blue finish. Plain wood forearm and straight grip stock with carbine buttplate, have been sanded and revarnished. Brass beaded Marbles 50M blade front sight and dovetailed U-notch rear sight on integral band, featuring a flip-up leaf graduated for 300 yards. Upper receiver tang exhibits 3 filled in holes, likely for a prior tang sight base. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear, with scattered spots of light to mild pitting present beneath the bluing overall. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound.
